Upcoming update & Plans

There is a new update 1.95 coming today with lots of bug fixes, improvements, weapons, buildings, barricades and clothing. Controls should be dramatically improved too.

The next focus will be new game modes – Openworld & Teams Co-op along with global leaderboards & wildlife.

I will be aiming to do weekly updates and will be releasing on iOS this month.

2.0 snap

Single player
Lots of people have been asking about Single player and I have seen some concerns about the single player updates. Everything with the new online version has been redeveloped from the ground up to be a lot more efficient updating and performance.

So I will be eventually merging Single player with online mode once all the content that is in Single player is in online mode (Caves, biomes, wildlife, brewing, boats and more).

I feel some things in Single player should be improved, such as travelling to lava/desert biomes, wildlife AI and other aspects. Once all the old content and new content surpasses the current Single player and improved, I will be updating Single player with everything new. This will also include the open world co-op multiplayer.

I am working as hard as I can to update Single player mode and will keep you updated as the time nears.

Thrive island – Online released.

It’s been a long road and a lot of work, but Thrive island online is now finally released on Google Play.

You can download the new game here:


This is early alpha access, there may be bugs, issues and limited content. This is a continued development and many updates will follow.

Currently there is 1 game mode which is Battle royale/last man standing. There will be more modes added included open world survival as soon as possible.

There is currently limited plays per day and you will receive one free play per 3 hours. You can watch an ad for more freeplays or buy more. This will support server costs.

There is much more gamemodes and content planned including:
Open world mode
Cosmetics & customizable characters
Highscores & leaderboards
New guns, wildlife & airdrops
More player limits & teams
Voice chat & much more


iOS will be released and PC will be updated once the release is stable.

Single player will soon be updated to include all the new content and optimization.

Update 2.32 Released

This update is quite a small update fixing quite a few issues from the last update.  There has been a lot of performance improvements and hopefully this will help across all platforms.


  • Water wells have been added.  Now you can access water closer to home
  • PC/Mac are now 32-64 bit
  • All digging has been fixed on the desert island.
  • There has been many smaller fixes and improvements from the last update.

For mobile free versions, you can now In-app purchase the full game.  This allows you to continue your game without losing any data after purchase.

What’s next?

I have been mostly working on multiplayer for the past few weeks and it’s about 80% complete.  I have also been working on one last major update for single player before releasing the multiplayer.

Within the next couple of weeks I will be releasing this update, which includes most of the suggested ideas, plus a few other things which I feel are necessary before multiplayer.

  • Random generated islands
    • These will be fully randomly, procedurally generated islands with alot more detail than so far.  Rather than travelling miles and miles in empty ocean it will feel alot more closer and better biomes.
  • Horses, riding & taming
  • Building furniture
  • Fishing & food degrading
    • Food will no longer last forever thus giving you new ways to hunt for food and storage
  • New building materials
    • This will play a much better role when it comes to new enemies and multiplayer
  • Enemys/Friendlys/Tribal warriors

These are all new aspects which are very close to being finished and will add a whole new dimension to gameplay.  I would’ve liked to release multiplayer by now, but feel these last things are much needed first.

Update 2.22 Released

This update has mainly focused on fixing issues from the recent 2.2 update although there has been several game changes and additions.

You will automatically get your updates on Android, and the latest PC & Mac versions are also available at

There has been lots of optimization and performance improvements made in this update. It should run much better than before although I feel there is still room for improvement in following updates.


Clothing will now be easier to craft – animal hides rates have improved and cloth requires less. Coal is now obtainable from using logs on fires and you can now craft temporary cloth beds.

Animations & controls have been improved. There is also a new option for auto attacking animals within range. This is optional, but is default on Android

I will now be working on further performance improvement and new things which I have in the pipeline for the next update. Horse riding/taming is almost finished and the new food system is making good progress. I have made huge steps towards multiplayer although it will probably be a little while before its ready to roll out. iOS is also almost ready.

Thrive island 2.2 released

Welcome to the new website.  The old website had some issues with management, therefor I have moved the website to a managed service which will save lot of hassle.

The latest, highly anticipated update is finally being rolled out.  Apologies for the long delay but alot of this update was really needed.  Although time intensive it was important to lay the foundations of this new stuff going forward.  In the future there will be much more frequent smaller updates and I am excited about the new things to come following this update.  This is the biggest update to date and includes lots of improvements and content.  I have tried to add as much suggested ideas as possible and hopefully you find something you suggested.

This update will wipe all previous data.

Free changes

The free version has been republished due to complications.  Previous installed versions will still update but it recommended you download the new free version here.  This will not affect your PAID installed versions.

The free version is now UNLIMITED time, no more timed demos.   There is some premium content and islands which are only accessible in the premium paid versions.


New Content

There is new characters added, along with a range of craftable clothing and armor.  There will be plenty more aspects and clothing added in future but this gives a good baseline of new clothing to start.

There is quite a wide range of new content added and some new aspects of gameplay.  There is now new cauldrons, pestle and mortars, glass making and brew recipes.  You can start brewing by digging sand from the new Savannah island.  Every brews base recipe is crushed bone and water.  There is also a range of new materials available around the world.

Islands now have random weathers, such as rain, snow and sandstorms.

Tiki torches and new building has been added along with world maps.

Lead has been added and is possible to craft radiation jackets.

Stamina now plays more of a role in the game and you can no longer swim endlessly, you can now craft boats to travel the waters.

Creative mode has been added in the paid version and will allow you God mode and unlimited crafting.

There is also a lot more content added which you will need to find out yourself.  There is also a huge amount of performance and optimization.

Going forward

I am going to focus alot more on smaller more regular updates from now.  All the big stuff is done such as island structure, clothing, transport and recipes.

Some stuff I was planning got cut from this update for now, although I have it 90% completed such as animal taming and horse riding, arctic island and traps.  All this is almost done but I feel they need more work to make it integrate into gameplay more.  They will all be coming in the following updates in near future.

Along with new islands, I want to focus more on taming new animals.  I am also working on making food not last forever like real food where it can go moldy.  This is pave way for more opportunities for food gathering such as farming and fishing.

Another priority is Tribal enemies/friendly’s.  These will introduce alot of new gameplay and I am excited to get them more fleshed out and integrated with gameplay.

iOS is high priority, although I am planning on introducing multiplayer first.  Multiplayer is the main goal once enemies are added.  At this point, I feel there will be enough content and gameplay to add multiplayer which will open a whole new realm of opportunities.


This was a huge update, mainly due to the things added being time intensive.  There is so much in the works and lots planned.  There will be alot more regular updates and I am excited to release more stuff I have been working on.
